The Colt Python has long been regarded as one of the finest and most iconic double-action revolvers ever produced by Colt. Introduced in 1955, the Python was built as a premium revolver, combining Colt's traditional craftsmanship with a precision-oriented action and distinctive ventilated-rib barrel.
This 1966-production Colt Python, fitted with the highly desirable 4-inch barrel, represents an early example from the revolver's classic era of production. The 4-inch configuration offers the Python's unmistakable profile in a somewhat more compact and balanced package than the longer-barreled examples, while retaining the characteristics for which the model became famous.
The Python features Colt's signature ventilated barrel rib and full-length ejector housing, adjustable rear sight, and ramp-style front sight. Its carefully fitted action, smooth double-action pull, and crisp single-action trigger were hallmarks of the Python's premium construction. The revolver's distinctive lines, polished blue finish, and finely machined components established the Python as much more than a conventional service revolver—it was marketed and built as a luxury-grade handgun.
Early Pythons such as this 1966 example are particularly appealing to collectors because they date from the period when Colt's revolver craftsmanship was at its height. The original-production Pythons are highly sought after for their traditional Colt workmanship, classic configuration, and historical significance.
The 4-inch Python remains one of the most recognizable configurations of the model and is especially desirable among collectors who appreciate the balance of the shorter barrel with the Python's unmistakable proportions.
A well-preserved 1966 Colt Python, particularly one retaining its original configuration and finish, matching numbered box as well as manual, test target and tools that accompanied it originally, make it all the more collectible and represents an important piece of Colt's classic double-action revolver history and American firearms craftsmanship.

Jim Clark Sr. — Pioneer of the Custom 1911
James E. “Jim” Clark Sr. (1923–2000) was one of the most influential pistolsmiths in the history of the American custom 1911. A former U.S. Marine and accomplished Bullseye competitor, Clark combined competitive shooting experience with exceptional mechanical ingenuity. In 1950, he founded Clark Custom Guns in Louisiana, which became one of the premier names in custom handgun work.
Clark was a true innovator whose modifications were driven by competition and accuracy. He pioneered the conversion of 1911s to .38 Special wadcutter and developed the six-inch long-slide 1911, an innovative design created by welding a section of one 1911 slide to another and then carefully blending the two into a seamless unit. His pistols were used by top competitors and achieved national championships and records. His work on compensated 1911s also helped establish the specialized “pin gun” as an important development in high-performance .45s.
Clark's influence on custom pistolsmithing is difficult to overstate. He helped establish many of the techniques and modifications that would become hallmarks of the modern custom 1911. His achievements were recognized with both the Pistolsmith of the Year Award and the Outstanding American Handgunner Award, making him a foundational figure in American custom handgun history.
One such example is this .45 ACP Clark Long Slide Bullseye pistol, which is featured in Volume 2 of the 1911 Vickers Guide. It features a competition Bo-Mar adjustable rear sight paired with an undercut Patridge front sight, “Tiger Tooth” stippling on the front and backstrap, a Smith & Wesson MTU (Marksmanship Training Unit) barrel and a trigger shoe to reduce the trigger pull.

Jim Hoag was among the pioneering custom 1911 pistolsmiths of the Southern California school, renowned for transforming the standard Government Model into a sophisticated, highly refined fighting pistol. His work combined meticulous hand fitting with purposeful modifications intended to enhance accuracy, reliability, handling and practical performance. This Master Grade Government Model with its hard chromed frame, blued-slide is an especially handsome expression of the classic Hoag style, distinguished by its thin-slotted Commander-style hammer, Bo-Mar rear sight expertly “buried” in a deluxe pocket, finely serrated ramped front sight, checkered hammer spur, and 20 lpi arched mainspring housing. The raised-panel, 20 lpi checkered frontstrap with border is complemented by a beautifully fitted Classic Hoag beavertail, while the flattened and ribbed slide top, beveled magazine well, and lowered and flared ejection port further reflect Hoag’s meticulous attention to both form and function. Completing the package is Hoag’s positive—and often underappreciated—thumb-safety “click,” a small but telling indication of the careful fitting for which his pistols are celebrated. As a whole, this Master Grade pistol represents the distinctive craftsmanship and purposeful aesthetic that established Jim Hoag as one of the most influential names in the classic custom 1911 tradition.

Rick Furr enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career in law enforcement with the Scottsdale Police Department, serving as its Range Master for 20 years and directing the department’s firearms training program. His career in firearms instruction extended well beyond Scottsdale. He taught for Clint Smith at Thunder Ranch, attended the inaugural class at Gunsite, and formed a lasting friendship with legendary firearms instructor Jeff Cooper.
In 1982, Rick co-founded the firearms subject-matter-expert committee for the Arizona Police Officer Standards and Training (AZ POST). Beginning in 1993, he worked closely with Ken Murray, the inventor of Simunition, and became deeply involved with the Reality Based Training Association (RBTA). Over the past three decades, Rick has taught instructor-development schools and reality-based training programs throughout the United States and internationally.
Rick was also a pioneer in firearms-training facility design. In 1993, he designed what he describes as the first nontoxic indoor law-enforcement firearms range, built for the Scottsdale Police Department. He subsequently consulted on and designed numerous other training facilities.
His approach to firearms instruction was equally innovative. Rick favored a Socratic teaching method, emphasizing thoughtful instruction, problem-solving, and realistic, winnable scenarios rather than the aggressive, "macho" style sometimes associated with SWAT or SEAL instructors. His philosophy was to challenge students without deliberately setting them up to fail through surprise scenarios or what he refers to as "trunk monkey" training.
After five decades in the shooting sports, Rick has assembled an exceptional collection of custom and historically significant firearms, including revolvers, pistols, and sniper rifles. The collection includes notable examples by some of the most respected names in the custom handgun world, including Armand Swenson, Jim Hoag, and Wayne Novak, among others. Six of his firearms appear in the Vickers 1911 books, including one in this initial release.
The firearms represented here comprise only a small portion of Rick’s extensive personal collection. Each reflects not only his lifelong interest in fine firearms, but also his extraordinary career in law enforcement, firearms training, and the development of reality-based training. Rick is proud to now present these pieces to the collecting community and to share them with discerning buyers who appreciate their craftsmanship, history, and provenance.
This is more than simply a collection of fine firearms. It represents the career and lifelong passion of a man who was deeply involved in the evolution of modern firearms training and who spent decades both teaching others and seeking out exceptional examples of the craft.

David Lauck’s reputation as a custom gunsmith is particularly well established in the world of Smith & Wesson revolvers, where his work has focused on turning traditional factory wheelguns into exceptionally durable, practical fighting revolvers. His approach is decidedly functional: stronger sights, better ergonomics, a properly tuned action and careful attention to reliability rather than cosmetic embellishment.
This beautiful Performance Center revolver showcases Lauck’s signature D&L enhancements, including fixed combat rear sights precision-machined from solid steel with a generous sight window, glare-reducing serrations and a snag-free profile, paired with a matching front sight incorporating tritium inserts. Both sights have been carefully radiused and dehorned for concealed carry. The revolver is fitted with D&L PRG (Positive Retention Grip) grips, featuring a carefully engineered angle and contour for improved hand placement and recoil control. Additional work includes a crowned barrel and precisely reduced barrel-to-cylinder gap to the absolute minimum (see 5th picture – I had to open the cylinder to see ANY daylight). The entire revolver finished in durable DLC.

Novak’s Inc. is legendary in the firearms industry for its pioneering work in custom handguns, particularly the Browning Hi-Power. During the late 1980s and 1990s, Novak’s was instrumental in building highly specialized custom Hi-Powers for elite law-enforcement units, including the FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT).
This exceptional Novak Hi-Power build begins with a Belgian-made T-Series Browning Hi-Power and has been extensively upgraded with many of Novak’s signature custom features. The pistol is equipped with a Novak Extended Strong-Side Safety and Novak LoMount 3-Dot Night Sight System, featuring a tritium rear sight paired with a tritium front post.
Additional enhancements include a No-Bite® Hammer & Sear Kit, a crisp 5–6 lb. trigger pull, removal of the magazine disconnect, and hand-matted front and back straps. The front-strap matting extends beneath the trigger guard for a clean, functional finish. The pistol also features a beveled magazine well and carry beveling, a match-grade barrel recrowned at 11 degrees, polished feed ramps, and upgraded action springs.
The build is completed with a beautiful traditional blued finish and Spegel Cocobolo grips, giving this Hi-Power an exceptional combination of classic appearance and professional-grade custom work.

Power Custom Grand Master Deluxe Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum
This exceptional Power Custom Grand Master Deluxe Ruger Redhawk represents the pinnacle of custom revolver craftsmanship by legendary gunsmith Ron Power. This 1984-production .44 Magnum is No. 66 of only 200 Grand Master Deluxe Redhawks with 5½-inch barrels produced for the American market, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authentication personally signed by Ron Power, certifying its serial number, 501-09150, and production number.
The revolver features brushed-satin finished surfaces, with a fine stippled backstrap and non-glare treatment throughout the sighting surfaces, including the back of the hammer. The trigger has been rounded and polished, while the action has been completely modified and enhanced with an adjustable overtravel stop. Both sides of the hammer are jeweled, and a stainless-steel shroud houses the ejector rod.
The six cylinder chambers are individually numbered 1 through 6 to assure precise alignment and facilitate exacting custom work. Each sight rib was personally hand-made by Ron Power from 416 stainless steel, adding both functional precision and considerable historical significance to the revolver.
The .44 Magnum is fitted with a 5½-inch Douglas premium stainless-steel barrel, measuring approximately 1 3/16 inches in diameter, with the sides milled perfectly flat. The barrel features a 1:14-inch twist, a counterbored muzzle, and a target-style crown. Magna Porting was performed by the renowned Larry Kelly, further enhancing the revolver's competition-oriented configuration.
The custom Hogue Mono-Grip, crafted from exotic wood by Gary Hogue, features double-panel checkering, comfortable finger grooves, a contrasting spacer, and matching grip cap. The absence of conventional grip screws on the sides provides the revolver with a particularly clean and uncluttered appearance.
