Eddie Jimenea is a now-retired pistolsmith from Houston who built full house IPSC competition pistols like this .45 ACP pin gun, and also police duty guns as Houston PD allowed a cocked and locked 1911. Eddie was well-known in the Bayou City which kept him busy in his one-man shop, so he never attained a national following like his talent certainly deserved. This “pin gun” conversion of a Colt Series 70 displays some of Eddie’s unique touches, like his diagonal checkering and a flared mag funnel that’s even more pronounced than a Steve Nastoff swaged funnel. Note that the frame had to be checkered before the frame was heated and swaged! Eddie was an expert welder as evidenced by his extended thumb safety and nicely upswept beavertail tang. Notice too that the front sight was skeletonized, no function, purely a cosmetic touch to say “I don’t overlook anything.” The extended mag release button is custom too. The barrel hood is shined and polished, nothing was left as stock. Bo Mar sights are nicely buried, Eddie’s initials marked on the mainspring housing and trigger guard.
