Seecamp Double Action Conversion, DEA Provenance 2275551
Manufacturer: Remington Rand
Caliber: .45 ACP
Model/Size: M1911A1 U.S. Army
Finish: Blued
Condition: Pre-Owned
Box/Papers: Yes
Ludwig “Larry” Seecamp patented a double-action conversion of a 1911 for those who wanted the handling of the Browning design but with a double-action pull for police or other occupations that precluded the use of single-action cocked and locked carry. It was called the Seecamp Conversion. Larry probably invented the conversion because of the engineering and machining challenge rather than any deluge of customer requests. It is unknown how many Seecamp conversions were ever made, but not many. This one is of particular interest because the invoice dated 1976 and an accompanying letter are to a DEA agent. The pistol is incorrectly listed as a Colt but the serial number indicates 1945 manufacture by Remington-Rand, one of four suppliers of M1911A1 pistols to the Army during World War II. It comes with large-size stag grips which the DEA agent most likely supplied.
Ships 2nd Day FedEx with (1) mag inside gun rug.
