John Yanek was a former president of the American Pistolsmiths Guild and one of the foremost “classic 1911” builders along with his contemporaries Richard Heinie and Jim Garthwaite. Yanek’s work was characterized by attention to detail in his one-man shop. This full-house Yanek build on a Caspian frame and slide was originally built by Yanek for Hilton Yam in 1999, sold by Yam in 2007 and then sent by the customer back to Yanek Custom for additional work in 2018 including full hard chrome by Metalloy.
This gorgeous pistol features 30 lpi hand-checkered front strap and flat mainspring housing, 40 lpi checkering under the trigger guard, Videki three-hole trigger, 4.5 lb trigger job, Brown beavertail, Bar Sto reverse-crowned match barrel in .45 ACP, Brown Tactical Ambi Safety (hard chromed to match the pistol), Chip McCormick tool steel hammer/sear (probably the last of the production units from when they were still tool steel), French border to set off top-of-slide serrations, bevel on bottom of slide, gold bead front sight and finished off with “Yanek Custom” tastefully engraved on the dust cover.
John retired after 45 years in the trade. A great pistol from an exceptional pistolsmith. A Yanek today can only be found on the secondary market.
Comes with (2) spare extractors and provenance as shown in the photo album, (1) Mec Gar 7rd magazine and gun rug. Ships FedEx 2nd Day Air.
